In this tutorial, we aren’t aiming to be ornithologically correct but rather capture the feeling of nurture and safety that the nest symbolises. In the process, we will learn to interpret our photo references and realise that they are only ever an inspiration. We will go through the planning process and use of thumbnails. We will learn about masking fluid and its uses and shortcomings. Finally, we will use watercolour pencils and sandpaper to apply beautiful finishing touches to our painting.
