Snug and Safe
I was inspired to paint “Snug and Safe” when I saw a painting challenge with the theme of “it’s cold outside”. I wanted to create the idea of looking out onto the chilly scene from inside where I am warm and cosy. I used the cool blues and greys of the snow shadows to accentuate the ‘cold outside’ theme and contrasted it with the warm red curtain at the side of the picture and the warmer browns of the wooden window frames. In keeping with the idea of being safe and cosy warm in your home, I wanted to keep the outside scene ‘domestic homes and gardens’ rather than the wilds of the Antarctic. It is painted in acrylics on stretched canvas measuring 30 x 40 cm.
