Portrait of the late Baroness Thatcher at her husband's funeral. I wanted to paint this portrait because I was caught by her sudden look of frailty & humanity - quite at odds with her public persona for many people.
We had all become so used to her mask of apparent invulnerability and the loss of it was inspiring for me - and touching too given the slight overuse of make-up as a cover.
