Held in the beautiful countryside of North Yorkshire in my new studio, just south of Thirsk and 20 miles north of Viking/Roman York on the A19. Close to the East Coast, Ripon, Fountains Abbey, and the Yorkshire Dales.

All Studio workshops are limited to 8 students (20 at other location) to ensure maximum personal attention, and all materials are provided. Students of all abilities are catered for. Tuition is offered in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and the lessons are centred around graphite pencil techniques – although many of these are equally useful to artists employing other media, such as watercolours.
Each workshop is based around a theme, but this is treated as a loose framework around which the workshop can be tailored to individual requirements.
As readers of my book “Drawing from Line to Life” know, I cover not just the “how” but also the more important “why”. Not just how to apply graphite to paper, but looking deeper into the subject, extracting what excites you about it, then interpreting and transmitting that to the viewers of your work. The result is a drawing with Life, not just a graphite copy of the scene, object or photograph in front of you.
