Harnessing the Storm

Jonathan Smith

One of a sporadic series of environmental paintings, this reveals the complexity of the climate change debate. The wind turbines near Harrogate, seem immense to us and yet are dwarfed by an oncoming storm, showing how insignificant human achievement is. And yet our effect on the climate is disastrous.

Ironically, climate change means such storms will be more frequent and more sever, and yet the turbines harness their power to create green energy to off-set human activity.
