This painting depicts Poppies awaiting their box and distribution for sale by the fantastic team of volunteers, shops, clubs etc. The British Legion poppy represents Remembrance and Hope for us all. The beneficiaries from sales are those who have served or are serving in the armed forces, as well as their families and dependants. I have purposely made them rough and rustic, and not pretty and delicate like the flowers themselves, because war is brutal, and not pretty. It should be remembered as such and not glorified or seen as and easy decision or something ever wanted. But by ensuring we all Remember what each and every person in the armed forces has given, or is still giving, and their support systems of families and friends there is always the Hope that War can be avoided in the future.
