Upon a tree-top high
I created this imagined semi-abstract Yorkshire landscape using many layers of acrylic paint and collage to convey what I see as the essence of Yorkshire, with it's hills, stone walls and sheep. Items of collage which I used include teabags, sheet music, maps and sewing patterns. I wanted to create a picture with a lot of little details so that the viewer always has something new to discover and to add their own interpretation to. The brightly coloured washing on the line , in particular makes me smile. The title of the piece comes from the lyrics of the sheet music I used to collage the tree on the horizon.
