Boxing Hares
I enjoyed painting this watercolour with the technique of drips and splashes, keeping it very loose. Whilst I was painting it, the hares seemed to come alive and I was painting a real frenzy of kicks. I am not sure whether it is two males fighting or a male and a female, but it felt exciting to paint. I wanted the one jumping high in red for its liveliness and the other one attacking in a cool blue with purple. I was inspired by the photograph after The Wildlife Artist of the Year 1999, Manfred Danegger.
