Simant Bostock

Debbie Cullis

This portrait is of a friend and famous Sculptor, called Simant Bostock, who makes weird and wacky Sculptured Figurines of human size of Irish and Celtic mythology, which has been his interest going back to his early childhood reading myths and legends.
I think his face has a charismatic look of Michaelangelo. I tried to capture his prominent chin, his flick of hair, his thin lips and his stark eyes.
I softened the face with the rouge colours of the complexion and the paper coming through. I softened the prominent outline of his face with the pastel strokes and a few little quick rough strokes around his hair flicked.
