Blossom Sunset

Ian Chapman

My Art group wanted me to show them how to paint trees. I decided to make the background simple and contemporary. I found a great tree sillhoette photo on the internet and used this to copy and draw in pencil for the tree. We then drew a large circle and painted it and sprinkled it with a little salt to get the cherry blossom effect.
We used Blacck Indian Ink to paint the tree. Finally we used kitchen foil for the leaves. The result is an amazing contemporary picture to suit and room.
I used SAA watecour paints, SAA brushes on A3 Bockinford 300gm paper.
