On a Sunny Afternoon in Porthleven

Alice Hole

This is one of my favourite views of Porthleven. I love the sweeping scene with the Bickford-Smith Institute in the foreground and the cliffs meandering into the distance to Loe Bar. I have walked along the twisting cliff-top path that is visible in the background many times!
I wanted to capture the warm afternoon sunlight as it illuminated the granite of the walls giving it a warm glow. I also wanted to depict the contrast between the choppy sea on a bright and breezy day with the relative calmness of the waters within the harbour.
