Newlyn Harbour
This acrylic painting on paper is of a view from Newlyn Harbour of St Michael's Mount in Cornwall. This is a complicated and challenging view,so challenging in fact that I nearly gave up on it several times throughout the process! I had to think very carefully about which areas to paint in which order as there are so many ropes and masts in front of each other and it took considerably longer than I thought it would. Glad I stuck with it though! I really wanted to capture the hustle and bustle of this thriving fishing harbour set in this beautiful and historic panorama. I loved the idea of St Michael's Mount watching serenely and majestically over Newlyn through the ages and its busy fishing port.
‘Newlyn Harbour’ was chosen to be finalist at 2015’s ‘The Artist and Leisure Painter Open art Exhibition’ in the artist category and won an Alpha Art Shop Award. It has also been featured in both ‘The Artist Magazine’ and ‘Artists & Illustrators Magazine’
