Market Life
On a walking tour of Aix-en-Provence, I was attracted by the brightly coloured parasols of the market place. The hustle and bustle of people, the stacks of crates and arrays of produce present a lively picture.
Each of the figures is a miniature portrait. Logos on boxes and contemporary clothing set the scene in time and place. My aim was to include as many details as possible to challenge the eye of the viewer, so that the more you look, the more you notice.
