Clematis after Shower
I have a magnificent Clematis in my garden which looked even more astounding after a shower of rain. At first glance, the beads of water nestling on the surface and in the folds of the petals seemed to be randomly scattered, but a closer look showed how they had run and settled following a pattern. Their shapes and positions follow the undulations of the surfaces. I felt I had to try and represent this as faithfully as possible, so mapping out the individual raindrops was a labour of love! I have tried to capture the flower lit up in sunlight contrasted against the dark undergrowth.
