The Dark Hedges
"The Dark Hedges" is an avenue of giant beech trees along Bregagh Road, County Antrim. The weird shapes of the trunks and branches give it an enchanted atmosphere. I switched from the standard Mi-Teintes to Mi-Teintes Touch paper (Light Grey) which allowed me to put on more layers of colour. I aimed to use pastel pencils for the finer lines and definition, though I found it difficult to make marks over the soft pastel where it was thickly applied. In places, I resorted to broken ends of soft pastel sticks to achieve the desired crispness of detail.
