Breaking Free
A pastel drawing created for The SAA challenge “New Beginnings”. I’ve kept chickens in the distant past and had the pleasure of seeing their young just hatched. After deciding on a composition, my main problem was what medium to use. Added to this the deadline had suddenly crept up so it was a bit last minute. Initially I was going to do ink with a watercolour wash to try and keep it loose but as I was only really going to get one attempt I wasn’t confident enough to do that. So changed my mind and went with Pastels.
Faber-Castell pastel pencils and pastel sticks on Pastelmat paper.
