Meal Time
My wife has a liking for puffins and we have a few paintings in our house. I had already done a painting of a group of puffins for a previous SAA challenge so I decided to paint a solitary puffin. I also decided to do the painting using gouache on my recently purchased black water colour paper. I’m quite happy with the final result but, as with the water colours, I found it difficult to block out large areas on the black paper without leaving brush marks. In the end, several coats were needed to produce the desired effect. Perhaps my vision of what I wanted wasn’t entirely suitable for getting the best effects out of the black paper - definitely work in progress!
