Orchid Orchestra (plus 1)
This composition was put together for the “Floral Fantasy” challenge. In general, painting flowers doesn’t inspire me and with the addition of “Fantasy” I found it even more daunting. Eventually I decided that a composition of some of the bizarre wild orchids may inspire me. So I sourced photos of various orchids (eg Bee Orchid, Fly Orchid and Monkey Orchid) and constructed a composition that I thought was balanced. Unfortunately once I’d finished it I realised that one wasn’t an orchid but part of a foxglove which had been part of an earlier idea!
