Sun and Cloud over Blyth Silos
An acrylic painting of the sun shining brightly through a break in the clouds over Blyth beach with the Silos in the distance. This is a view I see on most days when walking the dogs but depending upon the weather it can vary immensely. On this particular day, when I set out it had been raining heavily and was very overcast. However, by the time the Silos came into view, the bright sun was shining brightly through a break in the clouds and the reflection dazzling off the sea below. The effect was to make it appear as though it was a white face wearing sunglasses. Although I originally did the painting in December I was never entirely happy with the “unreal” looking outcome and therefore I revisited the painting in Feb 24. The aim was to tone down the colour of the clouds floating past the bright light from the sun. However there is no getting away from the face like projection made by the clouds.
